Research Support eLearning training

From October 3rd 2022, the Research Support eLearning training is hosted in the CoSy (Course booking system) course management platform. When you book a course, you do not need to take it on the same day; it will be available in your ‘My eLearning’ tile, ready to take when you are ready. If you return to take the course on a different day, you do not need to book the course again - go to your ‘My eLearning tile’ and start the course.

If you are having problems booking or taking your course, please look at our FAQ. If the FAQ does not answer your question, please Contact CoSy Support us via our form. Our team are available to assist you between 08.30-17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays and University closures. If you submit a question over the weekend, rest assured that we will reply to you as soon as possible after the weekend.

To book a course login to CoSy, with your Oxford Single Sign-on (SSO), and then book the course by adding it to your shopping and checking out. Once you have booked the course, it will show in the ‘My eLearning’ tile on your dashboard.

The Research Integrity – Introductory Core course will give access to all sixteen elements contained within it (eight content modules and eight quizzes). The Research Integrity – Refresher course for Experienced Users will give you access to four elements contained within it (two content modules and two quizzes). For the Avoiding Plagiarism and the five supplementary Research Integrity courses you will need to book the course content modules and quizzes separately.

A ‘Play’ button will appear next to each module. Click ‘Play’ to start each module. When you have finished the module, make sure you exit it.

The Research Integrity - Introductory Core course is comprised of eight topics which are split into a content module and a quiz for each topic, making a total of sixteen elements to complete. These must be completed in the order they appear. You cannot access the next content module in the list until the previous content module and quiz have been completed (with a pass score of 80%).

The refresher module takes the first two topics from the Core Module (Good Research Conduct and Irresponsible Research Practices) and utilises them as a refresher module. In the same way that the Core module works, when you book, you’ll be given access to both topics, which is four elements in total. They are hierarchical and access is only granted to the next topic upon completion of the quiz from the first topic.

The pass score is 80% in each quiz.

You can go back into the quiz and retake it at any time, you will be able to retake it as many times as you require until you have passed.

For the Research Integrity – Introductory Core module and The Research Integrity – Refresher for Experienced Users module, the courses must be completed in order (content, followed by quiz). Access to the next course in the list will not be granted until the previous topic’s quiz has been completed and passed (with a pass score of 80% in each quiz).

For the Avoiding Plagiarism and Research Integrity five supplementary modules, you can book the content modules, watch these, and take the quizzes at any time. However, you will only receive you certificate for these once you have completed and passed the quiz.

The courses are online and available 24/7.

You will receive your certificate for the Core Module after completing the eighth and final quiz (Communication, Social Responsibility, and Impact Quiz). For the Refresher for Experienced Users, you will receive your certificate once you have completed the second and final quiz (Irresponsible Research Practices).

Certificates for the other modules, such as Avoiding Plagiarism and the five Research Integrity supplementary modules, will be sent out after you have completed and passed each of the individual quizzes.

It is recognised that the success status within CoSy for each of the content modules remains as Awaiting Assessment.
The CoSy support team will complete routine checks for this status and will update CoSy to change the Awaiting Assessment status into a Passed status for all individuals who have completed the course.

It is recognised that the status within CoSy, for an overall module, may say “Not Started” even though you have completed it.

The CoSy Support team will complete routine checks for this status and update CoSy to change the status to 'Completed' for all individuals who have completed the course.

The course will be in your ‘My eLearning tile’ in the CoSy Portal, ready for you to select 'Play'.
