IT Learning Centre - Delivering online courses onsite and voice-over recording

Online course delivery in the Thames Suite

If you wish to use a Thames Suite room to deliver a live online interactive course to a virtual audience using Teams, you can do this in the following ways. Make sure you allow suitable time to set up and check all is working.

It is the responsibility of the teacher to book the room not the Learning Events Team.   The Learning Events team will book the online course as a Teams meeting but the teacher needs to book the location to deliver from if wanting to use a room in IT Services.

Please make sure you have booked a room in advance. Booking will be via self-service in Timeedit – (procedure to be advised).

Use the Studio

  • A desktop with the teaching room image with two screens, webcam and headset.  As this is a shared computer you can the Teams desktop app but some extra steps will need to be taken - see guide (to be written)
  • Bring your own laptop and kit and just use the room as a quiet room.  You will need to make sure Wi-Fi etc is working.  Note if you wish to connect your laptop to an external screen an HDMI cable is available.

Use the Windrush room

  • If you wish to use two screens you will need to run the Teams Web App on two computers and ‘join’ the meeting twice
  • You will bring your own webcam, headphone and microphone
  • Bring your own laptop and kit and just use one of the rooms as a quiet room
  • You will need to sort out wifi etc.  You will need to make sure Wi-Fi etc is working.  It is not possible to connect your laptop to a screen.

Note the teaching computers have a teaching image that is not in sync with Connect.

Voice-over recording
